Board-certified Master Hypnotist. Greg Newton is a certified 5-PATH® hypnotist and founder of NordVaka Hypnosis. Drawing on years of service work and a background in guiding personal transformation, Gregory creates a calm, supportive space where clients can relax, focus, and achieve meaningful change. My Journey with Hypnosis

My connection to hypnosis began long before I ever sat in a practitioner’s chair. I grew up in the shadow of generational trauma—habits and coping patterns passed down from grandparents who carried the scars of WWII. My paternal grandfather smoked himself to death in 1975. My maternal grandfather drank himself to death in 1986. Those losses left deep marks on my family, especially my father, who coped by throwing himself into work—becoming a man who was always busy, but rarely at rest.

I internalized those same qualities. I built a rough exterior, priding myself on self-reliance while carrying more than I ever admitted. I turned to alcohol, money, risk-taking—you name it—to manage the undercurrent of stress and unresolved emotion. For years, I thought that was just the way life was meant to be lived.

Discovering hypnosis and trance work changed everything. These tools helped me connect to a calmer, wiser part of myself—the part that could choose differently. Through hypnosis, I shed excess weight without the constant battle, freed myself from alcohol entirely, and even found relief from tinnitus—a lingering reminder of a severe concussion.

Along the way, I’ve learned just how much more hypnosis can do—and the science behind it is even more compelling. Modern research shows that hypnosis isn’t mind control—it’s a measurable shift in brainwave activity, attention, and neuroplasticity that allows us to change thought patterns at their root. Functional MRI studies reveal how hypnosis alters activity in areas of the brain linked to perception, pain, and emotional regulation. This means it can influence everything from stress response and habit formation to how the brain processes sound, memory, and even physical discomfort.

Hypnosis didn’t just help me change behaviors; it allowed me to rewire the deeper patterns that shaped them. Today, I share this work not just as a practitioner, but as living proof that our past doesn’t have to dictate our future. We can choose to end cycles, heal what we’ve inherited, and create a new story—one worth passing on.
